P’tit Belliveau is the full-time project of Acadian pop experimentalist and “prime alien” Jonah Guimond, the mind behind generational anthems such as “Income Tax” and “J’aimerais d’avoir un John Deere.” Originally from Baie-Sainte-Marie in Nova Scotia, he moves through life like a series of adventures, which he transforms into songs for the greater good—a humble prophet of goblin mode who simply seeks to feel good and feel great by creating for others, so the world might have a little bit more love.
Following his first three EPs in 2017–2018, he came across as charming. With the release of his album Greatest Hits Vol. 1 in 2020, his potential became clear (named Breakthrough Artist of the Year at GAMIQ and winner of the Félix Award for Album Production of the Year at ADISQ). With his second album Un homme et son piano in 2022, the full scale of the phenomenon became evident (four sold-out nights at Club Soda). With P’tit Belliveau, his third album set for release in 2024, we’re heading toward the prophecy of a “[…] big poster [at a] sold-out Bell Centre […]”.
